Mumbai: The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) president Sourav Ganguly on Saturday told ABP News that the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022 will be played in India.

According to Sourav Ganguly, BCCI wants to hold the marquee event in India without any spectators ie inside empty stadiums, keeping in mind the well-being of cricketers, supporting staff, and other stakeholders amid the COVID-19 scare.
However, it will happen only if the COVID-19 cases subside further in the country, the board president told ABP News.
As per ANI, Wankhede Stadium, Cricket Club of India (CCI), DY Patil Stadium in Mumbai & Pune will be the likely venues of the 15th edition of the tournament.

The league will be played with 10 franchises in the 2022 season. Ahmedabad and Lucknow are the two new teams that would be presented in the competition. Ahmedabad IPL team has concluded that Hardik Pandya will be the captain of their side for the IPL 2022. Lucknow, then again, has decided to make KL Rahul their captain.
