India Records 3.33 Lakh Cases In Last 24 Hrs, Maharashtra Registers 416 Omicron Cases


New Delhi: India continues to record a daily surge of over 3 lakh Covid cases. The country registered 3,33,533 new infections in the last 24 hours recording a marginal dip than yesterday. India’s active caseload is now currently at 21,87,205.

The active cases stand at 5.57%. The recovery rate of the country is currently at 93.18%.

The country witnessed 525 deaths, and 2,59,168 recoveries in the last 24 hours.

The cumulative doses administered in the country so far under the nationwide COVID-19 vaccination drive has exceeded 161.92 crore.

India’s COVID-19 tally had crossed the 20-lakh mark on August 7, 2020, 30 lakh on August 23, 40 lakh on September 5 and 50 lakh on September 16. It went past 60 lakh on September 28, 70 lakh on October 11 , crossed 80 lakh on October 29, 90 lakh on November 20 and surpassed the one-crore mark on December 19.


Maharashtra on Saturday witnessed a slight dip as the state recorded 46,393 new coronavirus cases including 416 Omicron infections and 48 pandemic-related deaths.

The daily new cases came down by more than 1,000 compared to Friday. The COVID-19 caseload in the state rose to 74,66,420, while the death toll reached 1,42,071.

The case fatality rate in the state stood at 1.9 per cent.

Of 416 patients with Omicron variant infection reported during the day, 321 were from Mumbai, 62 from Nagpur, 13 from Pune city, 12 from Wardha, six from Amravati and one each from Bhandara and Nashik districts, reported PTI.

The Omicron case tally reached 2,759, of whom 1,225 patients have recovered.

As many as 30,795 coronavirus patients were discharged in the last 24 hours, taking the tally of recovered patients to 70,40,618.
