New Delhi: On the occasion of the unveiling of the hologram statue of Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose on his 125th birth anniversary, Union Home Minister Amit Shah said that it is not just a granite statue but a befitting tribute to the freedom fighter.

During the occasion at India Gate on Sunday, Shah said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has taken a historic decision on the Parakram Diwas to pay tribute to Netaji’s contribution to India’s freedom struggle.

“This is not just a granite statue but a befitting tribute to the legendary Netaji, who gave up everything for India’s freedom,” Shah said as quoted by news agency ANI.

Speaking at the event, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said, “Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose refused to bow before the British…Netaji used to say ‘Never lose faith in the dream of independent India, there is no power in the world that can shake India. ‘ Today we have a goal to fulfill the dreams of an independent India. We have a target to build a new India before the 100th year of independence, 2047.”

After the unveiling of the statue, PM Modi conferred the Subhas Chandra Bose Aapda Prabandhan Puraskars for the years 2019, 2020, 2021, and 2022, that honors the contributions made by individuals and organizations in the field of disaster management.

The award will be accompanied by a cash price of Rs 51 lakh and a certificate for the organisations, and a Rs 5 lakh cash prize and certificate for the individuals.
