Oppn Boycotts 5-Party Meet Called By Govt, Parliament Minister Says Public Is Boycotting Them

New Delhi: While the opposition has been protesting against the suspension of 12 Rajya Sabha MPs and have asked the government to call an all-party meet to discuss the matter, the center has said that they want to talk to those opposition parties whose MPs have been suspended. Union Minister Pralhad Joshi said in a statement that if the opposition is boycotting the meeting then “the public is also boycotting them.”

“We want to talk to the Opposition parties whose Rajya Sabha MPs are suspended to find a solution. They (Opposition) are boycotting the meeting, they also boycotted the Constitution Day event…they should understand that the public is also boycotting them” , said Union Minister Pralhad Joshi.

After the government decided to hold a meeting with only five parties, the opposition announced that they will be boycotting the meet if the center doesn’t invite all parties. Several opposition leaders have reacted to the government’s decision to call only 5 opposition parties in the meeting.

The leader of Congress in Lok Sabha, Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury said that it depends upon Govt as to how to run the Lok Sabha. “The government hasn’t called us for any meeting as the matter is of Rajya Sabha”, said Chowdhury

Meanwhile, the Leader of Opposition, Mallikarjun Kharge has said, “the Govt has called for a meeting of 5 Opposition parties on the suspension of 12 Rajya Sabha MPs. This is a conspiracy to divide the Opposition. All Opposition parties are united on this issue . We’ve written to the Govt to call an all-party meeting.”
