digital desk, Ramallah. Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas has called on Israel to implement the agreements with Palestine and restart the Middle East peace process. This process has been stalled for the last seven years.

Abbas made the remarks on Tuesday during a meeting with Yale Lampert, Acting Assistant Secretary of the US State Department’s Bureau of Near Eastern Affairs, in the West Bank city of Ramallah, Xinhua news agency quoted WAFA as saying.

Abbas briefed Lampert about new developments in the Palestinian territories.

Abbas told Lampert that in order to start a genuine political process based on implementing international resolutions it is necessary to stop the Israeli measures and implement the agreements signed between the two sides.

Abbas’ meeting with Lampert came a day before his meeting with US National Security Adviser Jake Sullivan, who arrived in Israel on Tuesday to discuss a range of issues, including the revival of the stalled peace process.

Direct peace talks between Israel and Palestine were halted in late March 2014 after deep differences over issues such as recognition of a Palestinian state on Jewish settlements and 1967 borders.
