Punjab CM Amarinder Singh to lead a Dharna at Rajghat after president rejects the meeting request

Chief Minister of Punjab Amarinder Singh is going to lead a relay Dharna of Congress MLAs at the Rajghat in Delhi as a result of Ram Nath Kovind rejecting to meet a legation which was led
by him upon the issue of center’s farm laws.

Amarinder Singh has asked for an appointment on Wednesday with the president in order to
receive the assent on the recent bill regarding center’s farm law. The state government on
Tuesday said that the rashtrapati bhavan has rejected the meeting request.

The CM said on Tuesday that the Dharna will bring attention to the situation. Main issue here is
the suspension of goods trains from the centre. Railways have completely stopped running
trains to Punjab the reason being farmers protesting against farms law. But the state government states that it has eased blockade and is allowing goods trains.

Due to the lack of coal, several thermal power plants in Punjab are shutting down says the state government. CM also said that section 144 prohibiting assembly of people is in force, several MLAs in groups of 4 will go from Delhi’s Punjab Bhawan to Mahatma Gandhi’s ‘Samadhi’ in order to hold a protest.
