MumbaiLegendary talk radio personality Michael Robin Jackson, 87, died on Saturday at his California residence. Jackson, who broadcast for more than 32 years on KABC Radio in Los Angeles, had been battling Parkinson’s disease for the past decade, reports Variety.

Lyle Gregory, a producer and close friend of Jackson’s for 30 years, confirmed his death in an interview with Variety. “It was a testament to Michael that so many guests and celebrities really loved coming to the studio,” Gregory said in a statement.

He continued, “With his British accent and boyish charm, Michael put people at ease. That was his gift. Michael molded an interview into conversation, news and information. Like two people sitting at the kitchen table talking A table, an open window, where millions of people across the country come every day, many of them calling Michael their private university.”

Jackson was born in England on April 16, 1934, and was raised in the British Isles, first during World War II, after which his family moved to South Africa and later to the United States. Jackson began his in-state radio career working as a DJ in San Francisco at KYA and KEWB before moving to Los Angeles to work at KHJ and news station KNX.
