Calling the proposed amendment “draconian”, several non-BJP ruled states have opposed the Centre’s plan regarding the IAS cadre rule change. In the new IAS cadre change rule, the Center has given the power to itself to appoint and transfer IAS and IPS officers.
KCR further in the letter said, “The proposal clearly a move to exercise indirect control by the Center on officers working in the state. It amounts to interfering in the functioning of the state government, targeted harassment of the officers and demoralisation, besides impacting accountability of officers to the state government. It would also render state governments as helpless entities in matters of ALL India Services officers.”
