UP Election 2022 | BJP Seals Deal With Apna Dal & Nishad Party. Nadda Lauds ‘Double-Engine’ Govt

New Delhi: Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) president JP Nadda on Wednesday announced that his party would contest the upcoming Uttar Pradesh Assembly elections in alliance with the Apna Dal and Nishad Party to carry forward the tremendous work done by the “double-engine” government in the state .

“We all came together in the Lok Sabha elections. In the 2022 assembly elections also, the BJP along with Apna Dal and Nishad Party will contest on all 403 seats in Uttar Pradesh,” Nadda said.

The BJP president asserted the “double-engine” government has scaled Uttar Pradesh to new heights.

Nadda said the state has become a good investment destination and is also doing well on social indicators.

“A lot of work has been done by Yogi ji with the blessings of Modi ji in the last five years in the field of connectivity,” he told a media briefing.

The BJP president also used the occasion to take potshots at former Uttar Pradesh chief minister Akhilesh Yadav-led Samajwadi Party.

“Five years ago in Uttar Pradesh, there was migration, hooliganism, kidnappings, mafia was flourishing with the support of the government,” said Nadda.

“All these chaotic things have ended in the last five years of the BJP government. Today there is rule of law in Uttar Pradesh,” he added.

The BJP president’s announcement on alliance with the Apna Dal and Nishad Party comes after the saffron party is said to have finalized the seat-sharing formula with its allies for the Uttar Pradesh elections.

Apna Dal president Anupriya Patel and Nishad Party chief Sanjay Nishad had earlier met senior BJP leaders, including Union Home Minister Amit Shah, in the national capital where the two parties are believed to have reached a consensus on the number of seats.

The Samajwadi Party, which is making desperate bid to aust the BJP from power, has joined hands with the Rashtriya Lok Dal (RLD) and the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP).

Banking on party general secretary Priyanka Gandhi’s women outreach, the Congress has decided to go solo in the politically crucial state this time.

The Azad Samaj Party (ASP), led by Bhim Army chief Chandrashekhar Azad, has announced to fight the assembly alone after failing to stitch an alliance with the Samajwadi Party.

Voting for the 403-member Uttar Pradesh Assembly will be held in seven phases from February 10 to March 7. The counting of votes will be held on March 10.
