Government employees will not be able to act in films and TV serials, the state government has issued a new order – News18 Hindi

Bangalore. According to the new rules of the Government of Karnataka, a person doing a government job will not be able to do acting. The state government has given this information in the new Karnataka State Civil Services (Conduct) Rules, 2020 published on Tuesday. At present, the government has given 15 days time for suggestions and objections.

The draft of the Karnataka State Civil Services (Conduct) Rules, 2020 was published on Tuesday, in which the Government of Karnataka has framed rules for government employees. The Karnataka government has proposed a ban on government officials from acting in films and television programmes. As soon as it is finalized, it will come into effect immediately.

Can’t act but can write stories
The draft rule has several features. It has a headline ‘Participation in the press, radio or television, performing arts or mass media of any kind or the publication of books, articles, etc.’. The rule states, ‘No Government servant shall act in films and television serials or engage himself in any activity connected therewith without the permission of the competent authority.’

Under this rule, no government employee will be able to take part in the editing or management of any newspaper or publication without the permission of the officer. However, literature, plays, articles, poems, short stories, novels shall be permitted to be published without the permission of a higher authority, but the officer shall not use his office for such publication or for publicity.
